Who is Corky?

The Corky McMillin Companies: Alameda Point Developer Proposal (2 of 5)
Initial Reactions: Pro: McMillin certainly appears to have experience Military base conversions, including environmental cleanup. Their vision statement indicates an understanding that transportation solutions will/should be driving the design at the Point.

Alameda Point future-developers

I downloaded all 5 of the Alameda Point Master Developer Proposals submitted to the city to replace APCP with the intent of “reviewing” them all, one at a time.
If I was more organized (or if I had the time), I’d read them all, created a complete set of criteria and then review/rate them accordingly. But […]

Coincidence or conspiracy?

I had the opportunity to meet and chat with Kevin Kennedy last night (actually, both of the city’s two-Kevins) which I quite enjoyed. And during the roaming discussion that we had, including what does the City Treasurer actually do (it’s more limited than I would have guessed, but makes his role in pushing the AP&T […]

Oh fer cryin’ out loud!

Sigh…

Last night I received what I thought was a regular update about upcoming practices/games/events surrounding the Alameda Youth Basketball league. I was floored when I finally read the message this morning:
Parents & Coaches,
I have just been informed by XXXXXX XXXXXXXXXX, one of our 6th grade boys coaches, that he has been receiving telephone calls from […]

One small step….

Stepping out of the house this morning, I couldn’t wrap my head around the day head. Too much to do (shopping, work, mouse cages to clean) and too much to think about (Alameda Point developers, Alameda Landing transportation issues, racist phone calls to a 6th grade basketball coaches in Alameda).

Size doesn’t Matter

A couple of weeks ago, Lauren Do had a post up about housing prices in the Bay Area. It was a follow up on discussions about housing affordability in Alameda and one that will probably go on forever. It started back in September; around the time Lauren provided interesting data on income levels […]

Planning for Alameda’s Transportation Future

News of the initial approval of the Alameda Landing project and the application for a chance to develop Alameda Point by 5 developer conglomerates has focused things on the ongoing plans for converting the old Naval Air Station lately.
However, exciting and important planning for the existing neighborhoods and roadways in Alameda is also underway. After […]

On a wing and a prayer

On Tuesday night (actually Wednesday morning) the silent slate of Alameda’s city council voted unanimously (5-0), as they often do, to approve the Alameda Landing project on the West End.

Alameda Landing - Decision Time

Alameda Landing goes before the City Council tonight. The packet for the meeting is over 500 pages long and I could probably write 20 pages on some of my niggling concerns with the project.
In the interest of shorter posts, I stick to a couple of large concerns I have with the Alameda Landing agreement that […]
