Taking it to the streets!

After two months of talking, thinking and downright delusional discussions, a group of Alamedans have hit the airwaves of Alameda Public Access Cable with what they hope will be a long-running, weekly current events TV Show called Alameda Currents.

The show will attempt to present the events, news and people of Alameda in an enjoyable and informative way. It’s definitely a work in progress, but informative nonetheless. (I learned a lot about Alameda Point while helping to film the interviews, and I feel I’ve been pretty involved on the issue over the past few years).

Currently the program is only on AP&T Ch31 (Weds and Thurs. at 7:30). Comcast 18 is coming soon but households with DirectTV or Dish Network are out of luck. Or are they…..?

The show will be available weekly, on-demand, on Google Video. Last Week’s inaugural show is now available:

This is a truly grassroots deal with many voices involved. The groups hope is to grow the number of people helping with production and editorial over the coming weeks. More information is available at www.tvalameda.com.

  1. Thanks for posting this! We were bummed that we missed the first episode (our landlord won’t allow AP&T installers in our building, which was already wired for Comcast), but now we can catch up. I’m looking forward to watching it in a larger format, though, so please let us know when it will be showing on Comcast (boo, hiss!) and we’ll set the VCR (yes, we still have one of those clunky old contraptions).
