Oxymoronic Argument of the Week

Last week and over the weekend, someone, adopting the moniker “Anonymous Anti-A Person” wrote to Lauren Do’s Site pretending to be a supporter of reasonable discussion of Measure A, all the while attempting to cast aspersions on his/her fellow supporters. I can’t imagine who would think someone would fall for these pathetic arguments (actually I can imagine it, but he is not to be named, and we’ve also learned who would fall for them as well.)

Here is the comment that makes us laugh hardest (there were actually more than one, but with slow pitches like this, there’s no need to harp on multiple details):

Original Comment

I think all Alamedans deserve to know who is behind the Anti-A crowd. Let’s give them access to the info so it remains a non-issue.

Follow up Comment

I agree that the who-is-behind-HOMES concern is a non-issue. That’s why I recommend full transparency to “keep it a non-issue” in my first post. You and I are together on this point.

So here’s what Mr. Anonymous Anti-A Person (3AP from here on out, too much typing) says: “This is a non-issue, so let’s continue to prove it’s true to make it more of a non-issue.”

In the spirit of this reasoning, I have 3 further non-issues that I think the Measure A discussion should include

Issue 1 - the devil
We all know that Measure A was not written by satanists and devil worshippers, I recommend that those supporting the issue provide further proof that they don’t worship the devil in order to “keep it a non-issue.”

Issue 2 - Kids
We all know that Measure A doesn’t kill children, but as kids are an incredibly important part of Alameda’s community, Supporters of Measure A should really show that they mean no harm to kids, just to keep it a non-issue.

Issue 3 - Human Beings
Of course the supporters of Measure A are human beings, what with all the english speaking, walking and driving they do, but hey, let’s give everyone access to their DNA samples so that it remains a non-issue.

This is such a fun game, that you can play along at home. This argument can be used for literally anything. It’s fun for the whole family!
