There are so many important issues to talk about in town, that I don’t even know where to begin! Actually, that’s a lie, because when it comes to f-u-n, there’s nothing better than a good old round of “six degrees of Alameda.”
On the off chance that you’ve only been in town about 5 days, or [...]

Having had over half a week to think about it, I wanted to return for a less sarcastic look at last Thursday’s meeting-planning, subcommittee meeting. I have been asked by a lot of people “was it really that bad” and have checked my own personal take on the meeting with a number of others who [...]

Tonight’s Planning Board agenda mistakenly lists the Safeway Gas project as having 18 pumps. Apparently staff just cut-and-pasted the last reports agenda item. The revised plans, with only 12 pumps, can be found here.
But the interesting thing is in the letter from the applicant to the planning board (and apparently sent to the planning board [...]

Last Friday morning, our Versailles Avenue home was broken into while my wife was out grocery shopping. The thief was in our kitchen having a bowl of Fruity Pebbles cereal when she came home. Fortunately, he saw my wife’s car pull up and ran out our back door and [...]

Ah, the clarion calls of civic debate: “show me your cards first!”
In the great Measure A debate, I have been surprised by the consistent requests that certain people, those who advocate talking about the possibility of changing Measure A at Alameda Point, need to outline a detailed plan for the Point before a discussion can [...]

On Tuesday night, the council will be voting on whether to buy a small parcel of land next to Towata park from the County of Alameda for a little more than $3,300. The parcel, which the city would add to the existing park, would be incredibly cheap. Given that one council member and some of [...]

The discussion of Measure A, as with discussions of any type of economic or land development, invariably tends to focus on the speculative, nefarious, financial connections of people who don’t want everything to stay exactly the same way.
Speak up in favor of the theater and you’re in the developer’s pocket. Want to talk about the [...]
