ENA! ENA! ENA!
So the ARRA (city council sitting in another version of itself to deal with Alameda Point/Naval Air Station issues) will be meeting tonight to decide whether to enter into an Exclusive Negotiation Agreement with SunCal.
This would be the last step in the porcess begun earlier this year when 5 developers applied for the chance to redevelop the base. I have spent the last 60 days thinking that I should spend some time going back over the Catellus and SunCal proposals and answers to city questions with the idea that SunCal might not pull off the ENA.
The word in some circles was that SunCal did not know what they were getting themselves into. I have a feeling that this was spurred on by the surprise selection 2 months ago when everyone seemed to think that Catellus was a shoe-in.
I have to thank SunCal and city staff for saving me the time and effort, because it appears that SunCal has brought forward an ENA that everyone can love. It has an aggressive public planning process and timeline, appears to cover all the important bases. And at the end of the day, city staff is recommending its adoption.
I have one question that I’m trying to confirm before putting bad information out. Once I hear from the city, I’ll post a second post if the answer is interesting.
I hope the council will move forward unanimously on this ENA. I looks like a good one.
