Stay Away

So really quickly, I realized that I had left off the Truck Route information on the Existing policies page I created about roadway policies in Alameda. I have added it at the end, but in the interest of reducing mouse-clicks for the RSI inclined, here’s the addition:

Truck Routes

The city’s truck route policy comes under the “movement of goods” section. Two of the three policies in this section have become obsolete due to unforeseen circumstances, both of which are linked to issues surrounding the changing nature of international trade and shipping.

Policy 4.6.b: Support continued rail service by the Alameda Belt Line.

Policy 4.6.a: Support the MTC/BCDC Seaport Plan proposals to retain Port Priority Use capability at Encinal Terminals and Alameda Gateway.

The city’s truck route policy is one sentence:

Policy 4.6.c: Maintain a system of truck routes that enables efficient deliveries with minimum disturbance of residential neighborhoods.

This system is identified on a map that identies the routes. By state law, trucks are only allowed to veer off the maps in order to make deliveries and may use non-truck routes only for the shortest travel distance possible.
