Lounge Act
The Alameda Heathcare District is looking for a new member for it’s Board of Directors. Applications are due 9/25. From the Alameda Journal:
Residents have until 5 p.m. Sept. 25 to submit an application for a newly vacant seat on the Alameda Health Care District Board of Directors.
The open seat comes following the resignation, effective Sept. 11, of board member Nancy Hoffman. Hoffman, a health care attorney who earned the highest number of votes in the November election, is moving out of Alameda, according to a press release.
For information on how to apply for her position, go online to http://www.alamedahospital.org or call 510-814-4001. Following an interview process, a new board member is scheduled to be appointed Nov. 6.
It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out, and what the Hospital does in the way of outreach to past applicants. If past history is any indication, revisit it here and here is any indication, and lord knows we’re all about history in Alameda, we’ll have letters to the editor from perennially rejected candidates, some sort of controversy will come up around the selection, and then everyone will stop paying attention again.
The last round of appointments (back in January) had a number of highly qualified candidates apply. If the 9 applicants who were not chosen (out of 10 interviewed) apply again, we’re going to be in good shape.
So get out there, fill out an application, and start practicing saying “I have nothing against Candidate X, but…..”
