Solar Rebate Announced.

Just a quick Friday afternoon post.  The city of Alameda has just (finally?) announced that AP&T will be offering rebates towards the installation of Solar Panels.  A great step forward to making this technology affordable.
you can see the whole Press Release here on the City of Alameda Press Release Page.

I Like Em Big and Stupid

Before the holidays, I risked carpal tunnel with an overly long post about the Action Alameda “Greening Alameda Point” proposal. Despite the length, I didn’t even get into two of the most incredible issues in the proposal: the acceptance of the issues surrounding transportation, something that many of us in Alameda have been talking about [...]

Blackbird on a Wire

Often, getting to sit on the Planning Board must feel like walking a high wire.  So many voices with strong opinions, while you end up having (getting?) to be the final arbiter. And rest assured, the members know that their attempts at finding a middle ground will be found to be unacceptable by those who [...]

Over the river and through the woods

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Wonderful World

Tonight, the city council will be discussing what to do about the Carnegie Library building.
There are two proposals being brought forward.
Proposal 1) Staff’s proposal to use the building as a one-stop permit center, moving the permit department in the basement of city hall (former jail) and permit departments from City Hall West at Alameda Point [...]

Vision of a Kiss

After Friday’s marathon post, I’m taking it easy on my hands, and your eyes!
In the spirit of Thanksgiving and all the good-will that comes with it, I’ll recommend that if you hadn’t checked out the Alameda Point Vision website you might take a couple minutes. There’s a quick survey that you can take to add [...]

Little Fluffy Clouds

So yesterday, I talked a little about the Greening Alameda Point proposal from Action Alameda; I kept things more on the style and messaging. Today I wanted to look at the specifics that are proposed within the document. For the sake of length, I am presenting summarized versions of the proposal on this page, but [...]

Pretty Vacant

So I’ve always wanted to like Al Franken’s books better than I actually do. They have funny bits, but tend to be a bit of a flat read. That said, Lies and the Lying Liars that tell them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right was a pretty interesting read and had a [...]

Hymn of the Big Wheel

The planning of Towne Centre returns tonight to Mastick Senior Center. (Would that be the Bride of planning of Towne Centre or Son of planning of Towne Centre). There’s a special meeting of the Planning Board (special because it’s on Tuesday, as yesterday was a holiday).
The meat of the meeting will be a workshop to [...]

Run like the wind

I’ve been meaning to write about this for a while (ever since I heard about it). On September 23, 2007, the Race for the Cure was held in San Francisco. For those unfamiliar with it, the race is a fundraising event for breast cancer research, teams register to participate and then fundraise as a part [...]
