Time to Walk the Talk

Caltrans is looking for residents to serve on their newly created Pedestrian Advisory Committee. If you care about pedestrian issues, then thse regional agency committees are important for Alamedans to take part in. Especially if one is interested in pedestrian access issues to Oakland from the west end. Here’s the info. Now walk like the wind!

I am pleased to announce that Caltrans District 4 is forming a Pedestrian Advisory Committee. The first meeting will occur in March at the District 4 building at 111 Grand Avenue in Oakland. The exact date has not yet been scheduled.

I will be the staff liaison to the Committee, with the chair elected from among the membership and serving on an annual basis. A draft charter has been developed for the Committee, which will be reviewed by the Committee at the first meeting. One of the primary purposes of the Committee will be to review Caltrans District 4 project initiation documents. The Committee will meet quarterly at least initially, but may meet more frequently if the action items warrant it. Meetings will take place during Caltrans business hours, probably beginning mid-morning or in the early afternoon.

If you are interested in participating, please send an email message indicating your interest and the best day of the month and time to meet (for example, 2nd Tuesday at 9:30 AM) to beth_thomas@dot.ca.gov. Thank you.
