Zoom zoom? Yum Yum!
I’m leaving for Sacramento in half an hour to lobby for transit funding as a part of the annual transit lobbying day…talk about tilting at windmills! I bring it up only to point out the irony of my desire to write about the new Tuckers Ice Cream Smart Car.
Has anyone else seen it? It’s cute. And it just seems so fitting.
First we had the Toy Safari Zebra Mini, the the city of Alameda GEM electrics, now Tuckers gets in the game. (Sorry Feel Good Bakery, the Subaru with a hand painted roof rack is iconic, but doesn’t make the list).
They all seem to be fitting into the idea of small island, small cars. And while the gas mileage is rate 40/45mpg, let’s face it, it’s not going to save the world. Though it does start to rehumanize the scale of our street. Plus, I thought it was fun/amusing that the first Smart Cars I see on the roads was here in town and it was being used to promote a local, independent store that I love.
Interesting post? Probably not, but sometimes you have to give shout outs!

I *heart* the smartcar ever since I first set eyes on it when we were in Europe. And I have been coveting one ever since.
However, I read somewhere that the actual gas mileage it gets is somewhere in the 35 mpg range, which isn’t that great for such a tiny vehicle. But it so unbelievably cute.

Thank you for the comments on my NEW car. FYI it is an ALL electric vehicle. It is a ZENN electric car and Chief Tibbetts and the force love it because it only does 25 mph. But when I’m delivering Ice Cream Cakes it is a perfect vehicle, perfect for Alameda and great fun with it’s retractable sun roof on the recent warm days. I have to charge up the car every three or four days and it must cost me about $6 to $8/month for energy. My son suggested the name on the new license plates “JR SCOOP”. Life is uncertain - Eat dessert first! Oh yea, my car has a great radio, too ! - Kate
