Alameda’s “Lesson 9″ to appear on KQEDForum

Alameda’s Lesson 9 will be featured on KQED’s Forum tomorrow morning at 9am and I’ll be one of the speakers. Thanks to Susan Davis for her write up at SFGate’s InAlameda (If you haven’t been reading her almost daily posts there, you’re missing something, check her out!)

Here’s the overview she whipped up.

The featured guests on Monday’s program include:

*Trish Herrera Spencer a Board of Education member who also opposes — and twice voted against — Lesson 9;

*John Knox White a community member who created a petition in opposition to the Board of Ed recall — and of course one of our very own In Alameda bloggers;

*Tracy Jensen a Board of Education member who supported Lesson 9 and is one target of the recall effort; and

*Kerry Cook (a representative of SERVE, which opposes the anti-gay bullying curriculum dubbed “Lesson 9″ and is coordinating an effort to recall the three Board of Education members who voted for it last May);

Feel free to blog along here as the conversation gets going.

  1. Nice work, John and Tracy. This show clearly exposes their homophobia and publically shows that their original argument re: inclusion was just a smoke screen for their hatred.

  2. thanks Francine, so much to respond to that I’ll have to write another post later.

  3. John,
    Thank you for representing our community this morning. I really appreciate all you have done for this effort.

  4. Maybe some of these (anti) folks will make sense if the tape is played backwards?

  5. John , I just listened to the whole show which is a lot for me to absorb. Trish Spencer is in my “General Contracting” vocabulary a real devious A—–e. Even though my sons are grown men I hope I have the energy to help see that she never spends one day longer than her first term on our school board. I would hate to think that there are very many people like her in this city.
