The School Board is being asked to look at changing enrollment on school boundaries. AUSD staff is working hard to clarify enrollment and reduce the unpredictable nature of enrollment, but are they focusing on small gains that will have large impacts on some families?

It seems that nothing brings out the passions of Alamedans more than school issues. Last year’s budget problem rallied hundreds of parents and residents, the Kindergarten Lottery issue roiled hundreds more, and now charter applications have the internet jumping.

Tomorrow night, the school board will be discussing the short-term kindergarten enrollment policy issue (G-1 Revision of Enrollment Policy AR 5116.1 Inf/60). This issue has raised a lot of concern in the Edison district, but appears to not have caught too much fire around the rest of the district.
