Continuing Ed

So here’s the thing. I want to give a huge shoutout to Mike McMahon for the time and effort that he puts into his website and in the same breath suggest that the School District should be providing much of the information that Mike provides. I find it odd that as of yesterday at 12:00pm, [...]

Kindergarten Enrollment, take 2

At the end of June, the Alameda School Board postponed a decision about a proposed new policy for enrollment in Kindergarten. (We covered it here) The recommendation comes on the heels of 60+ parents spending the night on the concrete outside of Edison School in order to make sure their children got into Edison’s kindergarten [...]

The yellow copy is for you, the pink copy goes to accouting, the blue copy is for our files, the grey copy….

On January 28th, 60-plus parents spent the night at Edison School, hoping to be some of the 60 out of 90 expected families to get their kids into kindergarten at Edison. As the West End shuts schools because of declining enrollment, the Edison district is bursting with kids!
On Tuesday night, the School Board will consider [...]

It’s a graph showing the Base Revenue Limit for each school in Unified School District in Alameda County. The Base Revenue Limit is the amount per student that the schools get from the state, and it [...]

Mack the Knife - AUSD edition

At last night, school staff released Proposed School Reductions in order to stave off a deficit of over $2million for FY 2007-2008.
I haven’t had a chance to look too closely, or try to understand what some of the cuts are, but key one’s that jump out at me are consolidating 3 Middle Schools into one [...]

School’s Out

In a convergence of issues surrounding schools, there were 35 parents standing in line last night for Kindergarten registration at Edison School. (Registration opened at 8:00am this morning). By this morning, KRON 4 and KTVU had news trucks at the school and Marcheta Williams, Edison School Principal, was interviewed on KFOG.
Crazy!
